Railay & Tonsai

Welcome to heaven on earth...

My days here, first with Kylie and Emma, and then on my own, consisted of waking up, eating some muesli, yoghurt & fruit, as per usual, and then heading out for a day of climbing and sunset beach chilling & bbq's. I spent 3 days here, on Railay, doing a climbing course and explored some beautiful caves and rock faces.

I met a group of 3, Pauline, Francois and Arnaud, from France who were there climbing on their own and latched on. We headed over to stay on Tonsai (the next bay on the same island which is walk-able during low tide, and you can take a boat during high). I highly recommend heading straight there where there are less people, more live music, better and cheaper food, cuter bungalows, and the best night/chill out place: Peace and Love Bar & The Backyard.

Deep water Soloing: For those who don’t know what it is, you take a boat or kayak out to the islands surrounding Railay. There are various faces that have ropes hanging down. Swim to the rope, hike up, and then the rock face is all yours. You just free climb to where you can/feel comfortable and then jump off into the bright blue water below.
